Astronomers Discover 95' near-Earth 'asteroids'

Washington, July: Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) has helped astronomers discover 25,000 new asteroids.

Ninety-five of these are considered “near Earth asteroids” meaning they are 30 million miles away, almost a third of the way to the Sun, yet a hair’s breadth in terms of the size of our solar system, reports Discovery News. However, the threat of a destructive meteor bombardment is remote at present. WISE will continue to make such discoveries as it starts its survey mode once again around the whole sky.
