French striker Thierry Henry' Retired from international football'
New York, July 16: French striker Thierry Henry retired from international football. Thursday after making 123 appearances and scoring a record 51 goals for France. Following his move to American club New York Red Bulls, the 32-year-old footballer appeared at a press conference and explained the reasons behind his decision.
“I’ve worn (the French shirt) 123 times and I’ve always had goosebumps when I’ve worn the blue jersey,” Henry was quoted as saying by Xinhua.“But you have to know when to stop. There are young players coming through.”
Henry, who played for Spanish league champions Barcelona, dismissed suggestions that he was winding down his career.
